CANES Enhances Senior Team through New Talent Acquisition
One of CANES Community Care’s strategic priorities is to maintain and enhance our senior leadership team to
address the growing demands in the home and community care sector. We are now pleased to announce a new
strategic hire that will strengthen our senior leadership team.
Raveen Kalra has joined the CANES senior management team as our Senior Director, Quality and Integrated
Care. Raveen brings over 10 years of occupational therapy, home care and quality assurance experience. Most
recently she served clients at VHA Home HealthCare and her prior experience includes working for Mississauga
Halton Home and Community Care Support Services. Raveen holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Gerontology
from the University of Guelph and a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from McMaster University.
Raveen has a long history of volunteerism including serving on the CANES Community Care Board of Directors
for nine years and acting as Chair of the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Committee. She was instrumental
in guiding the organization through three successful accreditation cycles and helping the organization achieve
Exemplary standing from Accreditation Canada each time. Raveen will start her new position on September 5th.
“We are very pleased that Raveen is joining the CANES senior management team at a time when there is considerable
transformation in the health system. She has the exact skills we need to keep us focused on providing high
quality care while at the same time looking for ways to expand our clinical services “stated Gord Gunning, CEO.
“With Raveen at the helm supporting our CQI initiatives and leading our Transitional Care team we are well
positioned for the future” noted Mike Valkama, COO. “I know our senior management team is excited to work
alongside Raveen to implement a number of planned initiatives”.
CANES Community Care offers fifteen care services to over 5,000 clients living in Etobicoke, Woodbridge,
